The Lodge
About the property
Blue sky, emerald green pine trees, and granite cliffs frame all of your adventures at Taylor River Lodge, the ultimate Colorado cabin getaway. Located on the outskirts of Crested Butte in the beautiful Taylor Canyon, the riverside property was formerly used as a locals’ general store for fishing and tackle and has since been transformed into a private, eight-cabin retreat.
This off-grid location is the perfect setting for friends, families and corporate groups to unplug and reconnect. Fishing is at the heart of the experience at Taylor River Lodge, which includes a stocked trout pond onsite, a mile stretch of semi-private river just steps from the cabins, and the famed Gunnison River only minutes away for float trips. Eleven’s beats on the Taylor and the Gunnison have recently earned Gold Medal status, inviting guests to fish the country’s best trout water the entirety of their stay with us. Meanwhile, the surrounding mountains offer rugged single track and scenic hiking trails, and the on-site rock climbing wall, archery and hatchet throwing area will make guests nostalgic for your Scout days.
A dreamy bathhouse welcomes guests home after a day exploring the outdoors for a steam or soak, while the main lodge coaxes guests to cozy up fireside with a good book. Evenings revolve around the campfire, where stargazing and s’mores whisk everyone away to the “good ol’ days.”
Taylor River Lodge, like all of our remote hideouts, is intimate in size and located in a secluded Colorado canyon, making it an ideal hideaway for private gatherings of family and friends. The lodge can be accessed via commercial or private flights into nearby Gunnison and is within driving distance from many of the surrounding states. All meals, house alcohol, and a personal guide for a variety of Colorado summer adventures are all included, so guests never have to leave the lodge unless they choose to do so.

SLEEP
Two single family homes and six cabins still have their 1940s board-and-chink bones but have been renovated with en suite bathrooms and personal steam showers. The design blends international touches, like Moroccan rugs and Indian block-printed pillows with vintage finds, such as hickory wood rocking chairs and antler-framed mirrors.
Hang Space
Whether you want to play or relax, there are ample choices on-property. Soak in the saltwater pool at the Bathhouse or head to the game cabin for late-night billiards. An elevated BBQ and fire pit area is the go-to spot for after dinner drinks. With its old hickory chairs, leather furnishings and roaring fireplace, the horseshoe-shaped bar in the main lodge is the ideal spot to swap fish tales.
EAT & DRINK
Meals at Taylor River Lodge showcase locally-sourced ingredients from the Rocky Mountain’s local farms and purveyors. Tell us your dietary preferences and then our culinary team will create dishes like smoked pulled pork with heirloom grit soufflé and cast iron chicken with cornbread Panzanella salad with watercress and apple cider jus.
