Why Raft the Futaleufú?
There is big whitewater here, but that's only part of what makes the Futaleufú special. The river moves through temperate rainforest, granite canyons, steep valleys, and Andean peaks, alternating between powerful rapids and calmer stretches where you can look up and take in where you are.
Beginning at Lago Futalaufquen in Argentina before crossing the Andes into Chile, the Futaleufú is known for its striking turquoise water and Class II–V whitewater. Its range of rapids gives experienced guides options for different abilities and conditions, from approachable sections for first-time rafters to highly technical whitewater. Among its best-known rapids are Terminator, Mundaca, Pillow, Casa de Piedra, and Zeta.
It's the combination that makes this river worth traveling for: serious whitewater, remarkably clear blue-green water, and a distinctly Patagonian landscape surrounding you throughout the descent.
