A classic Patagonian spring set the tone early. Optimal water conditions from day one allowed both our Rio Yelcho Lodge and Rio Rosselot Lodge to produce consistently productive fishing over the course of the season.
At Lago Yelcho, the famed dragonfly hatch delivered explosive dry fly action early on. As summer progressed, the arrival of Puye baitfish at the lake’s outlet in February led to some of the season’s most rewarding fishing, with both trophy brown and rainbow trout caught in impressive numbers and sizes.
Meanwhile, at Rio Rosselot Lodge—part of our signature two-lodge, week-long experience—anglers enjoyed steady action on beetle patterns and large attractors to start the season. February brought the much-anticipated stonefly hatch, a prime opportunity for targeting big browns and rainbows feeding aggressively on large surface flies. Some of the season’s largest trout were landed during this period, much to the delight of both seasoned veterans and first-time Patagonia anglers.
