Following our most successful season in recent years, we’re entering the 2025 Atlantic Salmon season on the Hölkná River with enthusiasm, optimism, and only three remaining spots.
From July through September, this limited-rod, conservation-driven fishery continues to prove itself as one of the most exclusive and rewarding Atlantic salmon destinations in Iceland—and the numbers back it up.
During our 90-day fishing window last season, anglers at the Hölkná Cabins averaged nearly three Atlantic salmon to the net per day, a remarkable number for any wild fishery. Just as exciting, we saw two fish that pushed the 95-centimeter mark—placing them in the 19- to 20-pound class. These aren’t just memorable catches—they’re a sign of the Hölkná’s exceptional health and potential.
This river has long been known for producing wild salmon in the 90cm+ range, but seeing fish approaching 95cm is rare and worth celebrating. It reaffirms what we’ve long believed: the Hölkná isn’t just thriving—it’s improving season over season.
For over a decade, we’ve partnered closely with the North Atlantic Salmon Fund (NASF) to help protect and enhance the Hölkná system. These efforts are paying off.
