"One of the hottest places to be in 2017."
- Maria Shollenbarger, Financial Times | January 2017
An island boutique hotel, Bahama House is the next “it” property on Harbour Island. Located in the heart of Dunmore Town—a 300-year-old community and the original capital of the Bahamas—it’s been tapped as the Nantucket of the Caribbean. Expect a deeply personalized holiday for folks who equally like a scene and hang time. Think white picket fences, pastel-painted cottages, quaint boutiques and sea-to-scene restaurants like Sip Sip. Unwinding, #briland style, is the order of the day: beach run, breakfast, snorkel, fish, nap, shop, nap, dinner. Repeat. With our 11 luxury suites, freshwater lap pool, tiki bar, and casual outdoor spaces to relax, you’ll be hard pressed to get out there and get after it. But we’ll deliver that, too. And the island is all about juxtaposition: uber-wealth and rustic buildings, a low-key vibe mirrored by world-class restaurants. People here move at a slower pace. A reminder that history and local heritage should be honored and celebrated.
Guest rooms capture laid-back Bahamian living with Eleven’s bells and whistles. That means Caribbean antique furniture and artwork. And we wouldn’t typically mention air-conditioning, except central air is a novelty and rarely found in the Bahamas.
You’ll find a mix of Bahamian, Caribbean, and Palm Beach heritage pieces accented with modern touches. Vintage rattan pieces are culled from Paul Aronson’s private bamboo and rattan collection. And no Bahamian retreat is worth its salt without a handcrafted tiki bar. For good measure, we’ve added a rum bar, too.
Eat & Drink
Bahama House is surrounded by waters rich with sea-to-table potential. The island is home to both innovative restaurants and street shacks run by colorful locals who dish fish tacos that Anthony Bourdain would rave about. In-house Bahamian dinners can be arranged, while our Experience Managers know Dunmore’s top tables.
