An Adventure-Doused Day in the Life

Patagonia, Chile is all about adventure, and there’s nowhere better to dive into it all than from Rio Palena Lodge. Hop on our bikes and explore the endless landscapes alongside a guide who knows exactly where to take you for the best views, scenery, and laughs. After biking along the Palena River, transition to paddle boarding for a water adventure that takes you over glassy water and through jagged peaks, lush forests, and vertical canyon walls. Instead of pausing the adventure to return to the lodge for lunch, we bring the fuel to you. Post up riverside for a picnic lunch brimming with grilled meats, veggies, and a view that’ll take your breath away.

An Otherworldly Glacier Experience

Next, gear up for a multi-sport glacier adventure straight out of your wildest dreams. Upon arriving at a just-discovered glacier via helicopter, your guides will prep you with harnesses and a safety brief before you hike along the crystal blue, crevasse-marked glacial surface. After taking a moment at the top to appreciate the staggering views, you’ll descend to the glacier’s base, put on drysuits, and paddle board through translucent glacial water, experiencing the grandeur of Patagonia, Chile in an entirely new way.

We’ll customize your itinerary to include exactly what you pick from our extensive activity menu. Try hiking, whether it be a laid back stroll to a nearby waterfall, an adventurous exploration of old-growth forests, granite ridge heli-hiking, or riverside trekking leading to 360-degree views of the Andes. Or, take on the rapids of the Futaleufú River, which ranks in the top five whitewater rafting destinations in the world.

For the new and seasoned anglers alike, try your hand wading the lodge’s homewaters of the Rio Palena just outside the lodge; hop in the heli to fish high alpine lakes; or embark on a full or half day float downriver to the infamous Lago Yelcho. Kayaking, climbing, and horseback riding are more outstanding options to keep your spirit of adventure alive and well, no matter what ability levels and inclinations you might have.
