The Lodge
about the property
The Fljót Valley in northern Iceland is a gateway for adventures ranging from mountain biking to sea kayaking. Named one of 2023’s “Best Hotels in the World” on Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List, Deplar Farm is a converted 15th century sheep farm with a turf roof and floor-to-ceiling windows that envelops guests in otherworldly views of extraordinary landscapes.
Iceland’s midnight sun means long summer days and endless opportunity for outdoor activities including world class fly fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and more. We, at Eleven®, have access to some of the most exclusive rivers in Iceland. The Fljótaá, a world-class Atlantic salmon and Arctic char river, is in our backyard. Back at the lodge, many guests choose to spend entire days in our spa, hopping from the geothermally heated pool to our cold plunges, saunas, and steam rooms.
Deplar Farm is freestanding and intimate in size. The design encourages our guests to get out and explore the abundant, breathtaking landscapes that surround the lodge.

Explore the Lodge
Sleep
Decked out in sheepskin, Moroccan wools, and textured walls, Deplar Farm’s 13 bedrooms are a cozy contrast to the raw landscape outside. Grettir, the master bedroom, has a mezzanine loft with a spacious seating area. Our four gallery suites all have mezzanine-style lofts with hammocks and day beds for lounging or additional guests.
Hang Space
Nature is everywhere at Deplar Farm. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the surrounding peaks, while throughout the home, you’ll find natural touches, like driftwood from the nearby sea and stone from the Fljótaá River. The library features Icelandic books, and local art adorns the living areas. The spa is a standout, with a gray stone hot tub, sauna, steam room, and two Isopod flotation tanks available at an additional charge. Guests can alternate between our Viking sauna and the cold plunge, or soak under the midnight sun in our open-air geothermally heated pool.
Eat & Drink
The basic Icelandic diet hasn’t changed much since the Viking days. Arctic char, north Atlantic salmon, lamb, and skyr are still staples, but our chefs prepare them with modern techniques and a dash of international flavor. Neighboring farmers and fishermen make regular deliveries, so menus are always source-to-table. Expect blueberry-topped pancakes, locally caught fish, and pasture-raised lamb, as well as fine spirits, craft beers from local brewers, and wines from Deplar’s extensive cellar.
Wellness Amenities
Iceland’s remarkably fresh air and pure water set the standard for a truly sublime wellness experience. Along with a fully outfitted spa area, which covers nearly 5,000 square feet and features innovative therapies like Isopod flotation tanks, Deplar Farm features an equipped gym, yoga studio, and a geothermally heated indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub.
