CYCLING OVERVIEW

Eleven’s four-day Crested Butte Singletrack Experience helps riders of all abilities progress on Crested Butte’s legendary mountain bike trails. Knowledgeable guides customize each trip to the group’s goals, experience levels, and optimal trail conditions. Learn new skills on cross-country or all mountain rides up to six hours long. On the final day, challenge yourself at Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s world-renown, lift-served downhill bike park.

TRAILS

Crested Butte’s intensely beautiful and remote terrain in Colorado’s Elk Mountains has a trail to challenge and appease every rider. The beginner-friendly Wagon Trail climbs steadily up the valley before descending into a deep pine forest. Mid-level riders can challenge themselves on the Dyke. Fast-flowing singletrack keeps riders on their toes ahead of a heart-pumping climb that drops down through a stunning Aspen grove. Then there are the 403 and 401 trails, worthy of anyone’s bucket list. The combination of the two, with the addition of the climb up Washington Gulch and the Snodgrass Trail, make for one of the planet’s best loops of singletrack riding with premiere flowy, singletrack and Sound of Music views.

SCARP RIDGE LODGE

Anyone who visits Crested Butte leaves with mountain-town envy. Full of historic charm and soulful spirit, the old mining town is home to Eleven Experience’s flagship property, Scarp Ridge Lodge. The former Croatian saloon still has its Wild West facade, but the interiors have been transformed with reclaimed iron from the old mills in town and generous amenities, like an indoor saltwater pool and rooftop hot tub. Considered a mountain biking mecca, the Gunnison Valley boasts the largest single track system in the U.S. with more than 750 miles of trails to be explored. Bike through alpine meadows carpeted in technicolor blooms, or forested trails canopied in autumnal gold.

SOPRIS HOUSE

Sopris House is full of history and character, just like the town of Crested Butte. The original 1882 building infamously became the Spritzer Bar, a saloon bought by Martin Spritzer in 1924 and operated by Slovenian immigrants. The intimate, four-bedroom home still has its original tin ceiling and mountain town touches like a massive buffalo head in the dining room and a private saloon.

TAYLOR RIVER LODGE

Blue sky, emerald green pine trees and granite cliffs frame all of your adventures at Taylor River Lodge. Formerly used as a local’s general store for fishing and tackle, the property has since been transformed into a private, eight-cabin retreat open from late May through mid-October. The off-the-grid location deep in Colorado’s Taylor Canyon is the perfect setting for friends, families and corporate groups to unplug and reconnect.  The surrounding mountains offer rugged single track. After a day outdoors, steam and soak in the Bathhouse or cozy up in the main lodge with a good book. Evenings take on a campfire vibe with stargazing and s’mores around the communal fire pit.

DAY 1 - ARRIVAL AND WARM UP RIDE

Check in and either take your bike out for a warm-up ride or enjoy après at the lodge. Enjoy pre-dinner drinks while your lead guide goes over the plan for your mountain bike experience. Either indulge with an in-house dinner or go out in town.

DAY 2 - TRAIL 401

The famed 401 is one of the best mountain bike rides in the country. Mostly a double track ascent, your reward is 360 degree views, flowy single track, technical drops, and plenty of extender options. Celebrate your ride with an après of Colorado spirits and local fare before being treated to an in-house dinner or hitting the town.

DAY 3 - HIGH ALPINE RIDING

Tackle Reno Ridge>Flag Creek>Bear Creek with an option to add on Doctor’s Park Trail. This is considered a quintessential Colorado mountain bike ride. The three climbs are followed by fast, single-track descents through pine forests and creek crossings. After biking, either explore Crested Butte or relax by the pool. Enjoy après and then either eat an in-house dinner or go out in town.

DAY 4: DOWNHILL BIKING AT EVOLUTION BIKE PARK

Breakfast is served at the lodge. Guests will be treated to a full day of lift-served downhill riding at Evolution Bike Park on Mt. Crested Butte.  Depart the lodge in the late afternoon to begin your journey home.

*Your guide will choose your ride itinerary based on your skill level, weather, trail closures and other factors to ensure you hit the best conditions and have the best experience ever.

LANI BRUNTZ

COLORADO MOUNTAIN BIKING GUIDE

Lani Bruntz loves seeing this world from two wheels. As a kid, she spent 1 week a summer bike touring with her dad. After college, she traded her skinny tires that saw nearly every paved pass in Colorado for some knobby ones and hasn’t looked back.  Her passion for mountain biking landed her jobs that had her living on the road riding mountain bikes all over the world. She’s pedaled in nearly every state and 5 continents, dabbled in both the Enduro and ultra endurance race scene, and now calls Crested Butte “home”. She loves sharing her passion for this sport that continuously challenges her to grow with expert and newbie riders alike.  As soon as the snow melts, you’ll find her pedaling as much as she can possibly can before the next winter, when she gladly trades her bike for her skis.
