A letter from your guide

John Bocchino, Colorado Fishing Manager

This part of the Colorado Rockies is an angler’s paradise, with pristine rivers and spectacular mountain scenery. The Gunnison Valley is home to some of the best trout rivers in the country, including the Gunnison River, Taylor River, and East River. And you can also chase wild trout and native cutthroat on our many small creeks. Eleven offers incredible lodging and guided fly fishing trips, including float trips and walk and wade trips. We also feature private water options, including our exclusive stretch of the Taylor River at our Taylor River Lodge. Whether you want to stalk a 10-inch cutthroat or hunt trophy rainbows on the Taylor, we do it all.

What will your trip look like?

DAY 1 – Welcome

After arriving to Gunnison airport and being greeted by an Eleven Experience Manager, take a scenic, 20-minute drive to Taylor River Lodge. Our legendary hospitality begins with a riverside welcome cocktail reception, followed by dinner at the main lodge. Colorado’s laid-back vibe is celebrated with an après-dinner bonfire.

DAY 2 – Walk & Wade Fishing on the Taylor River

Wake up to incredible views and the rush of the Taylor River. Get fueled with a chef-prepared breakfast. Next up, meet your professional fishing guide and hit the river. Walk and wade semi-private water on the Taylor. Regroup on the patio at the main lodge for a locally-sourced lunch. Then it’s an afternoon fishing followed by an evening steam, soak, or swim. A family style, farm-to-table dinner and a variety of wellness options are your rewards after a long day of casting.

DAY 3 – Float Fishing on the Gunnison River

Jumpstart the day by practicing your cast on our private trout pond. A chef-prepared breakfast is followed by a morning float fish on the Gunnison River. Relax with a riverside picnic prior to an afternoon fishing session. Your call-to-action is rewarded with a sunset massage, fireside cocktails, and a barbecue along the banks of the Taylor River.

DAY 4 – High Alpine Fishing

Fish high alpine streams amidst Colorado’s famous 14ers—peaks over 14,000 feet. By now you’re seriously disengaged from daily life’s static. Lunch is served riverside, followed by an afternoon hike through fields of wildflowers and towering mountain peaks.
