A letter from your guide

Elliot Manning, Colorado Fishing Manager

Taylor River Lodge is your ideal base camp for single-day to multi-day fishing adventures. From May through October, we offer walk/wade trips, float trips, clinics, and premium multi-day fishing itineraries customized for our guests. Early season means big water, nymphs and streamers, and hungry trout. Once the summer hatches kick in, trout are looking up and feeding on the surface, enter dry fly fishing. By late summer, we get into some great hopper action. As if all of this wasn’t enough, our salmon run is in full swing during September. Fall is a great time to fish in the Gunnison Valley, with golden aspens, bald eagles, kokanee salmon, and big aggressive trout on the move. Whether stalking wild trout in the mountains, matching the summer mayfly hatches, or floating the historic Gunnison River in a drift boat, it’s all about you. Our Eleven guides are committed to making it your best day ever.

What will your trip look like?

We believe your trip should be exactly what you want it to be. That means that no trip is ever the same. From the day we first speak with you, our Experience Team begins planning your dream itinerary. Just learning to fly fish? Our professional guides love to teach beginners on the lodge’s trout pond, and on nearby rivers and lakes. Prefer to float fish? Avid anglers can enjoy 26 miles of the Gunnison River in pursuit of big browns, rainbows, and kokanee salmon. Prefer to hike and wade? A myriad of mountain streams are nearby, where accurate casts with dries or nymphs can produce astounding wild trout.

In addition to our standard walk/wade and float trips, we offer the following premium single-day and multi-day fishing packages:

NEW GOLD MEDAL DESIGNATION IN COLORADO

We’re excited to share that Eleven Angling’s beats in Colorado now boast highly coveted Gold Medal designations. 20 miles of the Taylor River and 12.5 miles of the Upper Gunnison recently earned this elite status, which is based on quality and quantity of trout per acre, and reflects serious conservation efforts by Eleven and other local organizations to steward the fishery responsibly. Our guides look forward to showing you the best of it all at Taylor River Lodge.
