A Letter From Your Captain

Tom McLaughlin, Mothership Captain

A Florida resident since 1986, I’m passionate about fishing and it’s my goal to make your Eleven angling experience an adventure you’ll always remember. As captain of the Mothership, I’ll be standing by to welcome you aboard as we set off to explore the legendary sport fishing grounds that have drawn generations of anglers to the rich waters of the Bahamas and beyond.

To me, fishing has always been far more than dropping a line and catching a fish. Finding that elusive and raw connection to the sea is an essential element of the sport. The Mothership is a unique vessel, one that provides us with the means to create a special connection to nature. There’s nothing afloat that rivals it.

What will your trip look like?

Live on the flats. There are no lodges and no people on the southwest side of Andros, only the Eleven Mothership; your casually luxurious liveaboard home, October through June, anchored on some of the most productive flats in the world, where you can fish with the tides on your own schedule.

Day 1 - WELCOME AND LET’S START FISHING

Morning arrival at Congo Town airport, South Andros. Greeting by Eleven staff, ground and water transfer to the Mothership. Get settled, enjoy snacks and refreshments, meet your guides and hit the nearby flats. Full day of fishing, lunch on the skiff. Back on board, enjoy the Mothership experience; evening cocktails, cold beer, selected wines, locally-sourced dinner, and a great night’s sleep.

Days 2 - 3 - FULL DAYS OF FISHING – WATER CAYS, CURLEY CUT CAYS, CORMORANT POINT

Chef-prepared breakfast each morning, with flexible start times every day. Head out on the skiffs to chase bonefish and other species with the tides. Your guide will have your boat’s coolers stocked with home-made lunches and drinks. Fish in the Water Cays for bones, some of the best wade fishing on the planet, with regular shots at tailing fish. Or head further south to the Curley Cut Cays. Then we change it up. The shorelines and offshore bars from Cormorant Point to Miller Creek are loaded with big bones, plus tarpon and some permit. Lots of sharks and barracuda too. Each day, choose to head back to the ship for lunch or eat in the field aboard the skiff. At day’s end, return to the oasis of the Mothership. Delicious après snacks and dinners invented by your chef each evening, paired with fine wine and craft cocktails.

Day 4 - FULL DAY OF FISHING – MILLER CREEK, LITTLE MILLER and LAND-LOCKED LAKES

Fuel up on coffee, eggs, and bacon before setting out to the West Side shorelines and the vast Grand Bahama Bank. From Miller Creek north to Little Miller and Spanish Wells, the variety of flats, creek systems and offshore bars is hard to imagine. All the flats gamefish roam this area; especially big bones and resident tarpon. Then you have the endless lake systems where Stand Up Paddle boards are used to access tailing bones, plus other species in super skinny water. This is adventure fishing at its best. At the end of the day, return to the Mothership and share stories over beers on the bow, followed by the chef’s selection of fresh seafood.

Day 5 - DEPARTURE DAY

Enjoy a special send-off breakfast before your water and land transfer back to Congo Town airport for your departure, or on to your next Eleven island adventure.

Note: Customized trips of any length are available. Depending on the customized itinerary you choose, there can be flats fishing on your departure day also.
